Succession, governance and legacy

A considered plan for what comes next

A considered plan for how your wealth will be owned, governed and passed on — coordinated alongside your legal and tax advisers.

Why it matters

Wealth without a plan is a plan left to chance

The structures that served you during your lifetime do not always serve the people you wish to provide for afterwards. Without a documented plan, ownership can default to rules you did not choose, in jurisdictions you did not intend, with tax consequences that could have been reduced.

Estate planning brings intention to that transfer. It clarifies who decides, who benefits, and how the work of carrying your wealth forward is governed — so that what you have built continues to work for the people and causes you care about, in the way you intended.

“We coordinate the financial picture. Your lawyers and tax advisers draft the instruments. The plan only works when all three move together.”

ESSENTIAL INSTRUMENTS

Core documents and structural safeguards

A robust estate strategy relies on a coordinated system of legal and financial structures—not a single standalone document. At Pearl International Securities, we integrate your wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and governance instruments directly into your broader wealth plan to simplify transfers, preserve privacy, and protect family wealth across generations.

Working alongside your legal and tax advisers, we ensure your structures remain legally binding, tax-aware, and continuously updated as your family dynamics and personal priorities evolve.

  • Wills & Letters of Wishes

Directing the transfer of unencumbered assets, appointing executors, and providing non-binding guidance for trustees and guardians.

  • Trusts & Holding Vehicles

Establishing discretionary trusts, family holding companies, and foundations to protect capital, mitigate probate drag, and govern distribution timelines.

  • Powers of Attorney & Directives

Designating trusted legal fiduciaries to manage financial affairs and personal welfare in the event of unexpected incapacity.

  • Governance & Succession Charters

Structuring shareholder agreements, buy-sell provisions, and family constitutions to ensure seamless business continuity and prevent legacy disputes.

ADVISORY DISCIPLINES

Four pillars of multi-generational estate governance

We frame estate planning around four essential disciplines—ensuring your wealth transfer strategy is legally resilient, tax-optimized, and aligned with your family values.

  • Succession & Asset Transfer

Structuring the clear, frictionless transfer of liquid and illiquid wealth across generations while minimizing probate delay and tax drag.

  • Fiduciary & Entity Governance

Establishing robust holding structures, trust oversight, and governance rules to protect capital from external liability and family disputes.

  • Multi-Jurisdictional Alignment

Navigating complex cross-border regulations, tax treaties, and international asset holdings for globally mobile families and heirs.

  • Philanthropy & Legacy

Formalising charitable intentions in a way that is governed, tax-aware and aligned with family values.

SUITABILITY & SCOPE

Scope of Estate Advisory

  • Estate audit — A single map of how your wealth is owned today and how it would pass under current arrangements.
  • Succession modelling — Projecting how different structures and instructions would affect heirs, tax and control.
  • Trustee coordination — Briefing and aligning trustees and protectors with your objectives and investment strategy.
  • Cross-border review — Identifying where multiple jurisdictions create conflict, duplication or exposure.
  • Philanthropic planning — Structuring giving through foundations, donor-advised vehicles or direct bequests.
  • Capacity & continuity — Documenting powers of attorney and decision-making protocols for incapacity or emergency.
  • Document register — Maintaining a secure summary of wills, mandates and structures for executors and family.

Note: Pearl International Securities coordinates overarching financial strategy. Legal drafting and formal tax instruments are executed by licensed professionals in each relevant jurisdiction.

ADVISORY WORKFLOW

Our Estate Advisory Process

A disciplined, five-stage methodology that translates personal values into legally robust, multi-generational structures.

  1. Structural Audit & Discovery

We learn about your family, your wishes, your assets and how they are currently owned — including across entities and borders.

  2. Scenario & Gap Analysis

We map how wealth is held today and how it would pass under your current arrangements, highlighting gaps and conflicts.

  3. Strategic Framework Design

We model the consequences of different choices and flag where specialist legal or tax advice is required before action.

  4. Fiduciary & Advisor Alignment

We work alongside your lawyers, trustees and accountants as plans are documented, executed and funded.

  5. Stewardship & Ongoing Review

We revisit your plan at agreed intervals and whenever family, financial or regulatory circumstances change.

Potential benefits

What families may value

  • Continuity

A documented plan so that decisions and ownership can continue without disruption if circumstances change.

  • Tax-aware structure

Arrangements reviewed alongside your tax advisers to reduce avoidable drag on transfer and growth.

  • Governed legacy

Clear guidance for trustees and heirs, reducing the risk of disputes and unintended outcomes.

Questions

Common questions

Do you write wills or trusts?

No. We coordinate the financial picture and help you think through the consequences of different choices, but drafting is carried out by qualified lawyers in the relevant jurisdictions. We work alongside them, not in their place.

How is estate planning different from wealth planning?

Wealth planning looks at your whole financial life in the round. Estate planning focuses specifically on how wealth is owned, governed and transferred — to people, structures and causes — during your lifetime and after.

I have assets in several countries. Can you help?

We help identify where cross-border issues arise and coordinate with local legal and tax advisers in each jurisdiction. Estate and inheritance rules differ widely, and specialist advice is usually required in each country where assets or heirs sit.

How often should an estate plan be reviewed?

We recommend a review at least every few years, and whenever there is a significant change in family circumstances, holdings, tax law or the jurisdictions that affect you.

How are you paid?

[Fee structure to be confirmed, as in the Fees section. Where estate planning is delivered as part of an ongoing advisory relationship, it is typically included within the agreed fee.]

Important risks and limitations

Please consider the following

  • Estate and inheritance tax rules change frequently and depend on individual circumstances and jurisdictions.
  • Plans rely on the correct drafting and execution of legal documents by qualified professionals; we coordinate but do not provide legal advice.
  • Valuations of private assets, business interests and property are estimates and may differ from values realised on transfer.
  • Cross-border recognition of structures and wishes cannot be guaranteed and may require specialist advice in each jurisdiction.

The value of investments can fall as well as rise, and investors may receive back less than they invested. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results.
